Well, with someone else finally getting bitten by the Heresy bug, I finally have an opponent to go against. This is going to be a foot slogging force I imagine, although who knows going forwards, some nice tanks out there...

I went Iron Warriors, in part as they are one of my favourite legions, just behind the Word Bearers and Thousand Sons, but also because it makes perfect sense with Gilly running Imperial Fists. I can see me eventually adding an allied group of Word Bearers, just a squad or two(that's how it starts..)

So, first test model, he has taken me a long time to do, I really need to speed things up. No squad markings etc, or battle damage, but that will come with later figures, to help break them up.

VI Grand Battalion, II Battalion, VIII Tactical Squad, Unnamed Trooper

Seen here during the genocide of Olympia, wading through the ash of 5 million burning souls.

Broken up cork tiles, and an ash flock. Grey pigments for the weathering.

I have a few different thickness tiles so hopefully the profile of the army will be quite varied. This is quite plain, some will have ruins, dead bodies on etc.

Dead bodies? to make it realistic it had best be the first wave of your own men...

You need a snazzy board and some matching scenery now!

I would love my own board and scenery. Just need to find a job, work out where I will be living and go from there!

Dead bodies will be the civilians massacred on Olympia, aiming for a terminator 2 playground feel.

First semi squad completed. Taken me bloody ages, really need to figure out a way to speed them up. Really happy with how they have come out.

Wow, they look awesome! Can get a better view of them in these pics. Think they look really smart and the ash waste bases look really good.

Spurring me on now - I'm behind!

Lorikus Torred, Consul-Praevian of the II Battalion, 'The Gatekeeper'

Captured here during the scouring of Olympia(dont ask why he is posing on an Imperial Fist backpack...)

Even in a legion already embittered with the tasks it received during the great crusade, Lorikus stood out as a sullen and disillusioned legionnaire. Charged with being first through the breach into the underhive lair of the Techno-Golems of Praxxis Majoris V, Lorikus suffered massive injuries but was the only survivor of his destroyer squad.

Stabilised but unable to be transported, Lorikus was left behind along with a single squad tasked with monitoring the works of a small detachment of Mechanicum who were investigating what appeared to be a large inactive gateway in the lair.

Over the next several years, Lorikus become frustrated with the complaints of the legionnaires under his command and even as his body healed, he found himself spending more time working alongside the Mechanicum team trying to decipher how this ancient piece of tech worked, even going so far as to have Cybernetic controllers inserted into his brain so that he could easily direct the automata they used for manual tasks. His men took to mockingly referring to him as the Gatekeeper when beyond earshot, and it was only when they received orders to return to Olympia and rejoin with the VI Grand Battalion, that tensions eased between Lorikus and his command.

Lorikus was found dead amongst the casualties of the Siege on the Imperial Palace, but the bolter wounds to the back of the head suggest he was caught in crossfire during the latter stages of the conflict.

This guy will initially just be a Praetor, until I can get some Vorax painted, but once I do I will just use the Narik Dreygur rules.

Cor! And he's pulled it out of the bag!

Could he be an HQ as a praevin in the end, can't remember? Still, looks good as a preator too.

Like the FW style fluff. Hope to get a bullet in his head a lot sooner than Terra!

Vulkas was often referred to as the Reaver. Despite being a seasoned apothecary who had served the legion for close to 70 standard earth years, he rarely engaged in field surgery, and would normally just harvest the geneseed of those who looked for his aid. Just his appearance could force those carrying even serious injury to attempt to rejoin the fight, and hope to receive aid from other sources.

Looking really really nice these - they look awesome as a unit. And two characters as well - forging ahead. Inspired me to try and keep up!

Really like the hatch markings on the apothecary's sword. And his back story - the butcher sawbones....

Cheeky! |Just as I thought I'd caught up, you add a sarge, vexilla, vox and a couple of men!

Looking great. That unit really looks good with numbers in it - gonna aim for 20 at some point?

Notice you didn't go power fist on the sarge?

No Vexilla, didnt really see the point. Just looks like its asking to snap off in transit too.

Yeah no power fist, wanted a power axe but couldnt quite get it to look right.

Wont be going to 20 either, 15 is more than enough.

Thallax cohort finished(until I buy some special weapons for them anyway)

Painted these as I assembled them, was a much easier process, I look at the ones I glued up and just cannot be arsed to paint them like that, too much like hard work.
