| Well, they arrived! Laser cut MDF, 3mm thick (i was gonna go for 5mm so they were really chunky to help put magnets down the side, but these are fine) and 50mm 'flat to flat' (rather than 'point to point'). 99p for a pack of 8, so not too bad. The brown marks along the flat of the edge are burn marks, but it leaves a nice black finish along the actual edge. I've marked each tile with a letter to help with mapping and also numbered all 6 edges to help plan features that run over onto other tiles or to help generate randomly with a d6 where the next tile should go. And this is the area they make when all laid out. I'll have a 'P' Please Bob! Reckon I'll only need another two packs and we'd have a decent map. Next stop, modelling craters and getting some fine sand for a lunar landscape. | |

| With 40k, there is likely a host of DIY items you can use, rawplugs, washers etc etc
Looking forward to seeing the progress!!

| Probably overkill, but b&q do bags (big bags) of really fine sand.
Or walk round looking, and fill your pocket up

| You must have some clients that are digging a hole out of prison using a teaspoon. Tell them you will dispose of the sand, for a fee | |

| Just starting to plan bits n'bobs out now - have we decided on races for the campaign? It'll be easier to make stuff then. | |

| Tempted by Chaos marines, but will stick with my Dark Eldar for now. At least until I get a few more thrashings!
Cities etc for them would be easy, just do webway portals, simples.

| Don is going to be Eldar, so I had better choose something else. I will be either Orks or Necrons. Will wait and see what the new Necron figures are like.
TBH, I love the Orks, but you just need loads of the buggers. Although, I think you can get them fairly cheaply on ebay from time to time

| Will Necrons be out by then? I could give you a head start with Orks, have a box of boyz and a box of nobs, only need a warboss then for a functional army. Just buy some cheap Assault on Black Rock stuff and you are good to go. | |

| Last rumour I read was that Necrons were due out in November. Those Orks do sound very tempting, though. Been spending quite a bit of time reading the army list and getting a few ideas. And I absolutely love most of the miniatures. | |

Surprised you can see the page with that big chin of yours.

LOL Some bits sound good, but no idea if they are until I try them out. The book is quite old, so pretty sure DA and IG will be much better. Eldar have always been good (and super chinny with Don!).

| Gotta say, I really fancy painting up some orks. And would love to fight against them with IG - they seem to go together really well - better than poncing around with these skinny elves or some marines.
Anyway, back to the tiles - Hopefully getting some sand today so will be able to churn a couple of standard 'blank' tiles out as testers over the weekend.

| Just a quick update of where I'm at: You kinda get the picture! Looking to put more colour into it with the other races' tiles. | |
